Around the end of 2016, Jamal set out on changing the pace of his usual progressive R&B music style by using his platform in the music industry to release more than just a song, but a message. And an important one at that.
The percussive elements and references to the Civil Rights Movement really set the tone for the urgency and relevence of its lyrics. Touching on gun violence, racial injustices, and human decency, "March As One is a bridging of two worlds; music and politics." And like most, we'd refer to that bridge as freedom of expression.
